Music Associations and Festivals

Bay Area Bluegrass Association

Also known as BABA, the Bay Area Bluegrass Association has been producing a free show and jam in League City, Texas since 1986. The monthly show is held on the third Saturday of each month in the Johnny Arolfo Civic Center (except for December) at 300 West Walker Street in League City. Although the stage show begins at 7pm, pickers are welcome to arrive early at 5pm for jamming in one of several rooms and a slow jam is usually available.

The Bay Area Bluegrass Association also produces a yearly festival the third weekend of May at the same venue in League City.

Texas Bluegrass Music Association

The Texas Bluegrass Music Association was created to preserve, promote and produce bluegrass music events in Texas. They currently produce the following monthly shows and festivals:

These events draw top talent from the hill country, Dallas-Fort-Worth, East Texas and the greater Houston area making it well worth the drive. In addition to a scenic stage area, numerous buildings are open for jamming along with RV hookups.

bluegrass heritage

Bluegrass Heritage Foundation (Dallas, TX): The mission of the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation is to preserve and promote the heritage of bluegrass music in America, with a focus on promoting bluegrass music in Texas. The Foundation seeks to educate the public about this distinctly American form of music with roots in Irish, Scottish, and English traditional music through educational programs and workshops, public performances of bluegrass music, historic preservation efforts, and other similar programs.

Bluegrass Rising Northwest (Cypress, TX): a new monthly jam and show in Cypress, TX on the second Friday of each month from 4pm to 9pm starting 14-Aug-2015. The event is behing held at the New Weekley Community Center, 8440 Greenhouse Road in Cypress.


CTBA

Central Texas Bluegrass Association (Austin, TX): a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote bluegrass music in Central Texas. The website describes their programs including a monthly Bulletin, the Bluegrass in the Schools project, CTBA Music Scholarship, CTBA compilation CD, as well as area bluegrass jams and shows.

Pearl Bluegrass Jam and Stage Show (Pearl, TX): The monthly Pearl Bluegrass Jam and Stage Show is held in Pearl, Texas at the Pearl Community Center on the first Saturday of each month except for September which is held on the 2nd Saturday. There is continuous music all day Saturday from just before noon until 10 p.m or later. Admission is free with donation boxes in the hallway to help with expenses and everyone is welcome!

Texas Olde Tyme Bluegrass Show (Magnolia, TX): First Saturday Bluegrass Show and Jam at the West Montgomery County Community Development Center. This event is sponsored by The Texas Olde Tyme Bluegrass Band and features local bluegrass bands and traditional country music - Jamming begins at 4:30 PM with a stage show at 6:00 PM.

Texas Pickin' Park (Fayetteville, TX: a Free Jam Session on the Town Square of the City of Fayetteville, TX. Jams are the second weekend of each month April thru November. There are always Free Workshops at 11:00am on Saturdays (except November when there is plenty of stew and goodies to eat). Jamming goes on all afternoon and into the evening hours. Some folks come out on Friday night for a smaller jam in the old Fire House.
